Long before COVID-19 arrived in the U.S., 45% of households in our service area were struggling to afford basic needs, leaving little or no margin for lost income or unexpected health care costs. Now, with an unprecedented amount of Americans out of work, the housing affordability challenges have been magnified.
Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity is proud to be able to provide mortgage and rent assistance for low income households needing assistance due to loss or reduction of income as a result of COVID 19. This is made possible through a grant provided by the St. Croix Valley Foundation. Applicants must reside in our service area (Washburn, Burnett, Polk, and Rusk Counties), provide our usual income verification items and background checks, provide a copy of the rental agreement/lease, a copy of a mortgage statement showing delinquency, and documentation regarding loss or reduction of income due to COVID. Assistance is capped at $1,000 per application and will be paid directly to the mortgage lender/bank or landlord. Funds are not unlimited and will be paid out on a first come, first serve basis.
